Everything Macs

Anyone who is a film / video enthusiast needs to look at this camera. It is amazing and will take over the world. Well not really, but the resolution on this thing is sick!!!! Here are some highlights about this monster.

There are a ton of accessories made for this camera too. It is very modular. OK now for the price. $17,500 for the body…..some people might be saying Yikes!!! Relax, this is nothing for a 4k camera. Imagine how much an Arri film camera costs ($50-100K) for similar resolutions. This camera is the bomb and is going to have a huge impact on the video / film industry.

Yeah, It was actually real. I went to one of the advertisements above and filled out their survey along with a few other things 2 weeks ago, and today I actually got an iPod shuffle in the mail. I didn’t have to sign up for anything. This is totally sweet. Im going to do another one with my dads address soon.

So last night, I installed VMWare Fusion and just got finished installing Ubuntu Linux. So far it has been great. Network functioning properly, mouse, keyboard and DVD drive. Im writing this post from Firefox on Ubuntu. The interface reminds me a lot of OS X. I was pleasantly surprised to find GIMP and Open Office preinstalled with the Ubuntu installation. I haven’t used GIMP in a few years, so Im looking forward to seeing what improvements they have made. Other than that, Im going to get LAMP installed and configured on this and see where to go from there. Im curious to see what kinda resources are getting used and the load VMWare is going to put on the mac. AAPL to the moon.

We’ll just when we thought everything was going well, we find out that our xServe has a CD-ROM not a DVD-ROM and the install disk is DVD. OK, not that big of a deal, we’ll just hookup an external DVD drive. Wait, whats happening, this thing won’t mount…so we put in a CD to see….that mounts fine…back to the DVD….nothing. Time to call Apple.

Alright, the solution is FireWire target disc mode from another Mac. This seems to be working now. 10.4 here we come
